It depends on how damp the rooms are and how powerfiull the dehumidifier is… approx 24-48 hours per room

I use a dehumidifier every week, so I feel good to give you some answers.
First, when you have one, put it towards the back of the house, during the daylight hours, about midway, leave closet doors open – folks sometime overlook that. In the evening before sleeping, roll it to the living room or a central point in the forward part of the house.
When you turn it on, turn it to MAX for the first 24 hrs, check the bucket about every 6 hrs and empty each time. Don’t worry about it when you go to bed, you won;t overfill the bucket.
After the first 24, ease the knob backward until the machine just shuts off – leave it at that point; it will kick on and off as it needs to to remove moisture.
As for size, I would get the 25 pint model (I have the 40, overkill). When you read the instruction booklet you will see it is a very easy to use machine, but performs a vital service. In my opinion they are a great investment.
You can get one a Walmart, Lowe’s and places like that.
You will be amazed at the difference they make inside your home – after about a week you will wonder how you ever lived there without it.
    Good luck.

How long to dehumidify will depend on the temperatures where you live. I live in Asia and from April until the end of October I run my dehumids every day.

They are full every day because of the weather conditions. It is very hot and humid in the summer months. They really are a good investment and stop mould growing anywhere. We also have wardrobe heaters which we have to use too (not that you need them)

Once you have run the dehumids they will fill up – just empty them and let them continue their job of dehumidifying. But.. if you do live in humid conditions – as we do – you will need to do it quite regularly during the humid weather. Just doing it for two or three days will help but the humidity will not go away until the weather changes to the dryer months.

Could save you a fortune in the long run – I couldn’t manage without mine. I have 4. The lounge dehumid is on constantly day and night and the master bedroom is also on day and night – as is the ‘dry room which houses our photos, cameras, good books etc….
