How much would a fair price be to hire 2 people to clean my 2 bedroom apartment??
November 30th, 2009 | by admin |Hello,
I will be moving in March, and have hired a cleaning service to do a "moving out" cleaning of my 1000 square foot, 2 bedroom apartment. I live in the Stamford CT area, and have been quoted a price of $100 dollars for 2 people from a cleaning service to come over and do the work. I’ve never hired someone for this before, and was wondering if this is a fair price, or am I being ripped off?
well you figure that it will cost anywhere from $10-$15 an hour to have that place cleaned out. if all of your things are out of there, then the bathroom (tub, surround, sinks, toilet, cabinets, dusting lights, and a good sweep and mop) will take around an hour to do to two hours. the living room (dusting high and low, windows and sills, baseboards, vacuuming and steam clean) will take 2-3 hours. two bedrooms basically the same as the living room 2-3 hours for both. kitchens are gross ( oven clean out, fridge clean out, cupboard clean out, windows and sills, baseboards, dusting high and low, sinks and counter tops) will take about 3-4 hours. so you’re looking at roughly 8-12 hours of deep cleaning so $100 is a good deal (8 x $10= $80, 8 x $15= $120; 12 x $10= $120, 12 x $15= $180) . just make sure that you specify EXACTLY what you want done and how you want it done. you do not want to be slapped with a fee because it wasn’t done to the landlords specifications.

This sounds about right. You live in an affluent area and $50 a person to do deep cleaning sounds about right.

If these people are reputable, jump on this deal.

I think it sounds like an excellent deal. Just think about it this way. If you didn’t hire these people then you would have to do it yourself!!
You will be stressed out enough with all of the packing, hauling, moving ect. Depending on if you are buying a house, or moving into another apartment you will probably have to do some light cleaning at your new place before you move your stuff in (I always clean out cupboards, refridg, bathroom ect because I don’t know how thorough it was done by the previous tenant/owner).
I agree with the previous poster about letting the service know exactly what you expect from them in order to get your moneys worth and not losing your deposit.
Moving is tough work and anyway you can avoid some of that stress is awesome. Treat yourself!
