In Pa. what constitutes a bedroom? Have a Cape Cod and am refinishing attic to add 2 bedrooms.?

I live in Schulykill County, Pa. We are having house appraised soon and want it to appraise as a 4 bedroom–need to know code requirements for bedrooms, for instance, does it have to have a closet? The 2 rooms already have windows and are studded out.

I would call a real estate agent in your area to ask for that definition. I would think it would have to have a closet, but I’m no expert.

In my experience, a bedroom needs to have access to a closet. You may use one closet for both bedrooms, though. Older Cape Cods were often finished that way, adding more rooms.

from what i’ve seen and read, the biggest determining factor of what is a bed room is a door that opens and closes and a closet,…regardless of the size.

If it has a closet, it can be called a bedroom.
