Is it better to get a 2 bedroom in Manhattan or a 4 bedroom outside of Manhattan?

Me and 3 other of my friends are moving to New York next fall and we are trying to get everything together. We have been looking at places to live where we would feel safe and works with our budget. We were thinking on just moving to Manhattan and getting a 2 bedroom apartment. We don’t really mind sharing rooms or anything, but I just want to get an outsiders opinion on this.

if you really can stand to live on top of each other, then go for the Manhattan. because then you’ll be in the middle of it all, or at least you could still walk home without crossing a bridge if you really had to…

    First of all, there aren’t that many 4 bedroom apartments in Manhattan or in any of the outer borough.

    Second of all, you’ll be lucky if you can afford a 2 bedroom in an outer borough! A 4 bedroom is so much more expensive, you’d be surprised.

    Be prepared to share AND live outside Manhattan.
