that most people here have separate air conditioner units for every room. Is central a/c rare here?
My House has central air and I would advise looking around until you find a house with central air because those terrible window units make you feel sick when you wake up and they let all the dust from outside in the house. Good luck!
Yes, central a/c is rare here. We have it in our compound, but the unit outside is huge, and it runs almost all day long to keep the house cool. alhamdulillah we don’t have to pay the electricity bill!!!

well it varies.. some rental owners are tight wads and dont want to shell out for central air cause its maintenance is so expensive.. they’d rather you the leaser purchase your own window unit and upkeep for it.
but there are central air buildings.. im sure the rent will be much higher..

Yes! My apartment in Jeddah has central air conditioning and that was one of the main reasons I chose it. Installing central air is a huge investment which many landlords avoid.
Plus, the mentality of rental units here is to provide the bare minimum of basics and let the …. Shell out for everything else, e.g. many units don’t have A/C’s, even kitchen cabinets, ovens, fridges…etc.
