my nephew will be attending wyotech and needs housing for 12 months. he does not have a car so needs affordable housing on a bus line or preferably walking distance. has anyone attended or know of any who has atteded the sacramento campus, and what did they do about the housing situation. the wyotech housing list provided by the campus is very far away. we are looking for something closer.

There is no housing near Wyotech.

It is located in an industrial area of West Sacramento.

The housing options they have provided you are most likely located in the South Natomas area.

I live in one such complex that caters to both Wyotech, and UTI students. Most of them room together and end up carpooling to school.

If you want to send me an e-mail to me through my profile I will give you a more specific response as to which complexes are better.

I did a search on the local bus routes to see if anything runs that way and could find nothing.

The problem with Wyotech is that it sits across the river from Sacramento. While there are ways on a bike to get there the bestway is a car. Welcome to California.

Certain areas around Delhi University are more popular with students than others. This is due to a number of reasons. South Campus housing areas are a bit more expensive than most areas in North Campus. rents generally start from Rs. 3,500 per month and can go up to Rs. 10,000 for some of the more posh locations. where can i apply for student housing in LA? how can i find it?

I have previously asked on safe housing in LA and I am appreciative of those who replied because it did help a lot! but i have no clue on where and how to find student housing!? please help!

You need to go through the school that accepts you. If you get accepted to UCLA, you contact UCLA housing services when you are accepted. That’s how it’s done. (You can only live on campus if you are a student at the University)

Rally in support of S.H.A.C. – 28 November 2008

Students occupying houses in Faraday Street, Carlton, owned by the University of Melbourne were given until 5pm on Friday 28 November to leave voluntarily or face eviction. A rally called for 12 noon on the day drew support from students, unionists and the general community.

Text of call-out from S.H.A.C. – the Student Housing Action Co-operative/Collective:

Call out for support of the student housing Action Cooperative (SHAC).

SHAC is a collective of students and supporters who have been occupying four vacant buildings owned by the University of Melbourne for nearly four months in a campaign to secure affordable student housing, starting with turning the occupied buildings into a student run housing cooperative. There’s a critical shortage of housing in inner city Melbourne with a vacancy rate of less than 1% and rents still going up at astronomical rates. Low- income students are spending more than 40% of their incomes on rent. International students are particularly affected by the lack of affordable housing mostly being offered accommodation in overpriced apartments without legal rights due to exemptions from the Residential Tenancies Act. Now SHAC is facing eviction. Melbourne Uni have asked us to ‘voluntarily’ leave on the 28th (reminiscent of their staff voluntary redundancy offers, perhaps?). We’re not planning on going anywhere (unless they hand us the keys to another property). Community support has always been the backbone of our campaign and we won’t be able to win without it. So come along and show your support for SHAC and the affordable student housing cause. Rally out the front of SHAC 272-278 Faraday Street, Carlton, Friday 28th November 12pm.

Support also came in the form of a letter to university vice-chancellor Glyn Davis from Brian Boyd, secretary of the Victorian Trades Hall Council, threatening serious consequences on the part of the union movement if the students were evicted. An attempt was made to deliver a copy of this letter to the vice-chancellor in person, without success.

What is the best STUDENT HOUSING/ APARTMENT complex in NYC?

Hey everyone!

Im would love to attend university in NYC, but my concern would be finding secure student housing. Im sure that dorms on campus are filled rather quickly so i searched online and found many buildings that are rented specifically to and for students.

Is any one student apartment complex more secure than the others?

where would be the safest place to live in NYC as a student?

Hey!

There is Educational Housing Services in different locations all over NYC. All of the buildings do have security and they are all located in safe areas. There are different room types that are available so I suggest that you go to www.studenthousing.org to check them out. The utilities are all included in the initial price, all except laundry of course, and there’s fitness centers at the locations as well for the students to use… also included!

At EHS (Educational Housing Service) you will not be bored. The RA’s are always putting together different events for the residents to go to and get to meet each other. At the beginning of the semester they have meet and greet’s where they bring in pizzas and everyone hangs out, gets to know each other and of course they go over the rules of the building. The events are great and most are free but if they aren’t they are very cheap, typically the places give EHS a discount. The RA’s definitely understand the meaning of being a "cheap college student". Haha.

I would definitely recommend checking out these buildings since I looked at them all too and they do have their own perks but go to the website, call the number and speak with someone. It’s definitely a fun, safe way to live in NYC.

Average prices for bills in student housing?

Me and my flatmates are currently looking for houses in Sheffield and were wondering how much amenity bills (gas, electric, water and internet) would be on average? Altogether there are 4 of us that would be living together. We are mainly trying to calculate how much we would be paying each week if our rent was approximately £60.

We are all slightly confused as this is the first time that we would all be living in housing that was organised by us.

well, i would say around £10 a week. Although this depends on how much electricity you use, i am currently in a house as a fresher and all my bills equate to £40 a month, thats internet, gas, electric and water, although i am in Bournemouth and your in Sheffield so in therory it should be cheaper because its cheaper in the north. My internet is £6 a month, £20 electric and gas (although i am on pay as you go meters) water and sewage is £7 approx a month. Although it depends on your water rates, some landlords include water rates. Mine doesnt, also how energy efficient your house is? Mine is energy rated E, so not very good in my case. My heating only comes on for 2 hours a day and i have hot water all the time, dont no how. So i would say approx of £70 week with bills.

anybody know the address for the online student housing preference thing for UCI?

I remember I need to go to that website to get the Contract Activation Code for housing, and I had to write two essays about the UROP thing. I still have to fix my essay, but I can’t find that address. Anybody know the address?
