Dude...the landlord doesn't have a say so it doesn't matter.
References :
Option 1
The roomate with his own room should pay a little more.
$650
$575
$575

Option 2
Each roomate can pay $600, but alternate rooms. For example, each roommate would spend 4 months in the master bedroom and 8 months in the shared bedroom.
References :
I would split the rent 50/50, but not the utilities and grocery bill. Wow! your rent is almost double of my mortgage and I have a 10, not 30year like most people. If you can afford that, buy a house.
References :
1/2 is charging too much for 1 of 3 people.
1/3 is charging too little for someone who has 1/2 the space in the house

So if 50% is too much and 33% is too little, approx 40% seems fair.
Charge $750
References :
I don't think it matters if 2 are sharing a room.
You are still having an extra body in the house and they are using water, electricity etc plus you are having to put up with another person. I'd want a 3 way split.
There's always additional impact from having another person in the house.. whether it's the inconvenience of having to wait for hot water after the extra person showers etc.
References :
I found interesting information about your answer & the best options here.
http://www.realstateamerica.com/ciudad.php?ciudad=New%20York%20City%20NY
Particularly the area immediately around Gramercy Park itself, is generally perceived to be a quiet area.

Williamsburg, in Brooklyn, VERY close to Manhattan: the new cool zone, good prices...
References :
First of all, there aren't that many 4 bedroom apartments in Manhattan or in any of the outer borough.

Second of all, you'll be lucky if you can afford a 2 bedroom in an outer borough! A 4 bedroom is so much more expensive, you'd be surprised.

Be prepared to share AND live outside Manhattan.
References :
if you really can stand to live on top of each other, then go for the Manhattan. because then you'll be in the middle of it all, or at least you could still walk home without crossing a bridge if you really had to...
