How much notice is required before raising rents in London?

Recent Posts Recent Comments

I live in a hostel-like house, we pay monthly, can stay 12 months, but can leave anytime with 2 weeks notice. We are being told rent is going up in a month and a half. (and yes i know its a different country) back home no matter what kind of lease you have you must be given 3 months notice of a rent rise, so this seems wrong to me.

i’m not too sure, i think it might be stated in your contact

I think here in the UK its only up to two months- it depends on your contract- its the same all over the UK- not just London- they can give you two months notice to quit or notice of rent raise. You could check out the http://www.shelter.org – has tons of good advice for the those needing to know the renting laws.
