What are the average rents for a one or two bedroom apartment in San Diego?

November 19th, 2009 | by admin |

I just got back from a trip to San Diego last night, and it is absolutely one of the greatest cities in this country. I would love to live out there permanently, or at least part of the year. What are the average rents for a nice apartment in downtown and surrounding areas? (Gas Lamp, Little Italy, Balboa Park) etc. Thanks

In downtown San Diego, and anywhere near the water here, you’re going to pay $1,200 – $2,000/mo. for an apartment. If you’re looking at only spending part of the year here, or don’t spend much time at home, there are a lot of loft-style places in that area that rent for $800+/mo.

The best bet is to go a bit east or south of downtown, where you can find very nice apartments for more reasonable costs. Just about anywhere in San Diego is within a 20 minute drive of downtown, so it works out okay.

I agree with you about SD. I think you could find a nice 2bd/2ba for about $1000/month.

Good luck and enjoy beautiful San Diego!

Average cost of apartment is like 1100-2000+ It is outrageous. You might as well buy a house if you plan to stay here. That is…if you can afford that too…-.-
